There are some common questions you're likely to face when you pay your property taxes. Sometimes you may find the amount on your tax bill is not the same as your notice of proposed taxes. This is because the notice of proposed taxes just roughly calculates your taxes, and non-ad valorem assessments are not included in the notification of proposed taxes. If there are "PRIOR YEARS TAXES REMAIN UNPAID" on your bill, it means that your taxes are delinquent. "DO NOT PAY" on your bill indicates that you should make your payment as soon as possible in order to get a discount if you don’t have an escrow account.

There is another thing you should take into consideration. Your tax bill is due in November each year. If you choose to pay your taxes on November 1, you will get a discount of 4%. December a discount of 3%. January a discount of 2%. February a discount of 1%. In March, you must pay the gross amount. Property taxes become past due on April 1.

The Approaches to Pay Property Taxes

There are two approaches to paying property taxes. The first approach is to pay taxes online.

You can look up the details of property tax bills by entering any one of the name, address, or amount number of the property. You will get a research result with the information on the amount due and account history. If there is an amount due, you can pay it right now.

Please notice that if you use a credit card or debit card to pay your taxes, an additional 2.5% convenience fee or a minimum of $2.50 (whichever is greater) will be imposed. But the use of e-check is free of charge. Post-dated checks are not accepted when you pay your tax bill.
