Florida Property Appraiser

Hillsborough County Property Appraiser

The Hillsborough County Property Appraiser is an elected official who is responsible for valuing all properties (real estate and tangible personal properties) within the county. Bob "Coach" Henriquez has been elected as the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser since 2012.

The Property Appraiser is obligated by the law to appraise the market value of all properties in Hillsborough County, including personal, residential, multifamily, commercial, agricultural, and industrial properties. Besides, the Property Appraiser also administers the applications for tax exemptions and keeps updated and accurate tax maps and legal descriptions of all properties in Hillsborough County.

The Property Appraiser assesses the value of all properties in the county as of January 1 each year. Then the Courtesy Tangible Personal Property tax returns are mailed. The property owners need to apply for real estate exemptions and agricultural classification before March 1 and personal property return without penalty before April. On July 1, the Property Appraiser sends the initial assessment rolls to the Florida Department of Revenue for verification. TRIM Notices are then mailed to all property owners by the Property Appraiser in August to inform them of the proposed property taxes. If you have different opinions on your property value, you have 25 days to petition the Value Adjustment Board after receiving the TRIM notification. In October, assessment rolls are ready for tax collection. You normally receive your tax bill from the Hillsborough County Tax Collector in November.
