Florida Property Appraiser

Hernando County Tax Collector

The property tax is determined by the two departments - the Property Appraiser’s Office and the taxing authorities in the county. The Property Appraiser determines the assessed value of the property, but the taxing authorities set the millage rate (tax rate).

You receive your tax bills annually on November 1. If you do not receive the tax bill, please contact the Tax Collector's Office at 352-754-4180.  Sometimes you may find your property value drop from the previous year while your taxes stay the same or even go up. The reason lies in the fact the taxing authorities increase the millage rate to meet their budget requirements.
