Highlands County Tax Collector

Property tax is a type of ad valorem tax that is determined according to the property value assessed by the Property Appraiser. The taxes are calculated from January 1 to December 31 and are paid in arrears from November 1 of the same year. The millage rates are set by the taxing authorities in the county.

The Tax Collector adds the non-ad valorem tax to the tax notice and then mails the tax notices to all property owners. Property owners need to pay their taxes within the required time.
