Florida Property Appraiser

St. Johns County Tax Collector

The Tax Collector is responsible for collecting ad valorem taxes and non-ad valorem taxes. Ad valorem taxes are calculated based on the assessed value determined by the Property Appraiser and the millage rates set by the taxing authorities. Non-ad valorem tax assessments are based on the fee levied by the special assessment that offers the benefit service.

The tax notices are mailed on November 1 each year, and the taxes become delinquent on April 1 of the next year. A 3% penalty will be imposed if the taxes are paid after March 31. Certain discounts are allowed if the taxes are paid early (4% discount if paid in November, 3% discount if paid in December, 2% discount if paid in January, and 1% discount if paid in February).
