Florida Property Appraiser

St. Lucie County Tax Collector

Real estate taxes involve two parts - ad valorem taxes, depending on the appraised value of real property, and non-ad valorem assessments, based on the price of providing services such as water control and erosion management. The appraised value of the property is determined by the Property Appraiser, and the millage rates are set by taxing authorities in the county. The Property Appraiser prepares the tax roll and sends the TRIM notice to the property owners, and the Tax Collector mails out the tax bills and collects the taxes.

Property taxes should be paid by March 31. Early payments will get certain discounts ( if paid in November: 4%, in December: 3%, in January: 2%, and in February: 1%). Payments made on or after April 1 are delinquent and a penalty will be imposed.

You can also apply for an Installment Plan through April 30 of the current tax year for payments on taxes for the current year. The payments are due by June 30, September 30, December 30, and March 31, with the discounts of 6%, 4.5%, 3%, and 0% respectively.
